Hallow’s End, Scourge, Lich King Invasion
So lot’s of shit has been going down in the game. Truthiness has been up to a bunch of stuff, including venturing back into Molton Core, Onyxia’s Lair, and participating in some wicked Lich King invasion stuff. This post is a semi-visual diary of the events, so follow the link if you don’t mind a lot of pictures.
Where to start? I guess it all started with the 3.0.2 patch. Everyone’s talents and abilities changed, to really really wild ends. Suddenly our off-spec boomkins were doing 1600 dps in Kara gear, healers were getting uber-bored with our regular runs, and our resident ret pally just about experienced a rebirth. Anyway, let’s start back at Hallow’s end.

Hallow’s End
When Brewfest rolled around, we farmed the hell out of the boss that spawned in Blackrock Depths. Ultrapaladin rolled a Kodo, and I believe someone else got a ram (if that was you, speak up). Anyway, we farmed the shit out of him, with pretty lackluster results. This seasonal event was almost no different. Some toons were seeing 10 Headless Horseman kills a day and didn’t get all of the drops needed for the new title, but a good number of us did. I don’t remember all that got it, but more than we originally thought (it helped that they realized how ridiculous the title requirements were and nerfed part of it). Some of us got the plate helm, which screams every 30 seconds when used, a lot of us got the squishling pet, and some of us got the “punkin’ head” as Solace calls it.
Molton Core, Onyxia
We have been farming the content Blizzard has provided for 10-mans in Burning Crusade for quite some time, and frankly, we were a bit bored of it. We were to the point of totally gearing out alts and offspecs, badge-farming, and just generally seeing how ridiculously fast we could get through the content (I think our record for Kara was somewhere around 75 minutes, someone correct me). For our play style and pace, that’s pretty damn fast.
So we stepped back for a little bit and tried to get some old-world runs in. They were not as successful as we had originally hoped, but things complicated and we ended up getting off schedule (scourge, etc). We spent some time getting everyone attuned which was trivial, but ran into some laziness on Blizzard’s part. It seems they kinda slacked on some parts of Blackrock Depths, we were able to get into a glitched corner and it appeared as if we were standing out in the open (2).
When we actually got to the instance, we wiped a time or two. I don’t recall exactly how many times, there may have been one close call in there, but the point is that it was harder than we were expecting. We shouldn’t have wiped, but we just pranced through everything like we were doing in Karazhan. Had we been more careful, we would have done much better. So we wiped; but we had fucking fun doing it. I think we all get caught up in the gear rush or progression or what not, but having joined the WOW universe post-Burning Crusade, there is a lot of content that I’ve missed and would actually like to see. We tried getting attuned and into Naxxramas before the Lich King content patch removed it, but we ran out of time.
We continued our old-world exploration by venturing into Onyxia’s Lair. A few of us had done this in the past, but we had never downed her. It took five of us this time. We came back with a larger group when we were all sporting brooms.

That was a lot of fun.
Hyjal
Since the 3.0.2 patch, there have been 25-man raid pugs like never before. A few of us were lucky enough to know the right people and got invited to a few, namely the Katex Nox crew (and by that I mean bou). The couple times that I went with them, we got to Anethereon. I only include the dps images because after the patch, I saw a big DPS decrease. The shots below are just about as buffed as I could possibly be, and they were turning out the same numbers as pre-patch when casually/self buffed.

Scourge Invasion
Some loved it, some hated it. I definitely loved it. It was so out-of-the-ordinary and was just what I needed to get revitalized and back in the game, just in time for the expansion. I know that the downtime had a lot to do with the forboding release of the expansion (all that gear, all that grinding, zeroed out). This event was fun and crazy at the same time.
The fun for me came in total random element, the chaos that ensued in cities. Unfortunately, this element made life pretty damn hard on some of us. I have a few alts, but I really hate grinding around on alts. A lot of people though were trying to make the best of this down time before the expansion and level alts up and Get Shit Done. At lower levels, the invasion made this impossible. The few times that I was on a lower level alt during the invasion, I was lucky and bounced between healers in the cities. Others though were not so lucky and it’s unfortunate, but the event really soured quickly.
Imagine trying to do AH business in the scene below. There was a surprising twist to the invasion stuff; it got worse before it got better. As quickly as it was here, it was gone…

Lich King Attack
You knew this was coming; the Lich King sends forces to attack Azeroth. It was pretty cool, and pretty lackluster at the same time. Honestly, the first scourge invasion felt more epic. There were ongoing quests and things that had to do with the invasion, but the Lich King attack (as far as I could tell) was on something like a 30 minute timer and would just repeat itself for a bit. I can’t wait for the next installment of this event though. I’m proud to say I was with most of my Truthiness family when it all went down
We heard about the Lich King’s attack on Ogrimarr, and Mizzy was the one to clue us in that something was about to happen in the new Stormwind Harbor. We were grouping up for Karazhan at the time, but we put that on hold and went to check it out.
We were the first group there really. There were a few others that beat us to the harbor, but for the most part, we had the largest representation. Mizzy bought me the Warcraft comics and I’ve been reading the lore books so I was totally and completely blown away and thrilled when I saw Broll and Valeera with the King. I highly recommend following up with the comic series and getting through the lore books. They fill in so many holes and make the game much more complete.

So we’re ticking along and stuff and waiting for the expansion in a couple of days / hours. We’ve all pretty much decided that we’re going to enjoy levelling and not blaze through it. Of course, guild members can do whatever they want though, I don’t want that to sound like it’s a hint or anything. We even coordinated our starting zones so that when we quest and do instances together it will be much easier since we’ll all be in relatively the same parts of the quests, etc.
Someone else post some shit.
