PvP Grind
So, I’ve been going through my bank and my bags lately, and getting rid of some of my BC raid gear that I’ve replaced, and it got me thinking about PVP gear. I only have 1 piece - the Merciless shoulders - for the only slot that I couldn’t fill with PVE gear before Kara.
Why hasn’t Blizzard implemented a trade-up system for PVP gear? It seems kind of stupid that someone should have to go grind honor for a piece and then grind even more for the next tier in the same slot. Why can’t I turn in the piece I already have for a reduced honor/token cost?

I concur Mizz. I spent a good portion of last night staring at the crazy amount of honor that is required for lvl 80 pvp gear. Bleh is what I say.

I agree fully, I still have all my 70 pvp pieces, and still use them in pvp. They still boost my survival to far higher lvls than my 80 PVE pieces, and it would be nice to trade them up so I can avoid a major honor grind to be pvp competitive again.

You are a genius.
The only problem I see is having pieces potentially cost less if you buy the 60 honor pieces, trade for 70 at reduced cost, then trade again at 80 for further reduced cost.
The solution is simple of course, have the total cost remain the same, your trade in value is equal to the cost of the item in their original debut season.
Seeing as how the solution is simple, you can expect it will never be implemented and we’ll be forced to grind ridiculous amounts of honor for PVP gear forever, only to finally get the full honor set and have it replaced by Season 73.
I did read that they are wanting to make end-game pvp gear available through honor though, because they felt that forcing players to perform well in arena in order to ‘progress’ in PVP was a bit unbalanced. I agree with this sentiment; arena pvp is totally different than BG or world PVP, and you should be able to earn a chance to compete with people who are completely arena geared. The idea is that there is a glass ceiling for players that do not prefer to organize and perform well in arena teams.
In the same way that it would be silly to trade T5 in for T6, etc. Blizzard might object to trading in honor pieces. However, the content difference between S3 honor and S4 honor is non existent (whereas killing Prince in kara is undeniably different than downing Illidan). Grinding AV for 40 hours is no different than grinding it for 80 hours. Whether you’re up against scrubs or full season-gear opponents, it’s a totally random element. You don’t walk into Kara and face Illidan.
I started rambling/ranting at the end there, but I think most of the points got out.
